About Us

The Nia Technique program was developed in 1983 by Debbie and Carlos Rosas who were bored with traditional fitness classes and were looking for an alternative approach to fitness. Nia came to Canada in 1990 when Nia Instructor Zeta Gaudet started teaching classes in Gibsons, British Columbia . Two years later, Jill Sackman of Toronto became Ontario's first Nia instructor and in 1996 I attended the first White Belt Level training in Ontario organized by Jill.

I am now a Brown Belt level Nia Technique instructor and I have been teaching Nia in Guelph for 14 years . Nia is my passion and my inspiration. I love sharing it with others and watchng the life within their bodies grow. I currently teach at Temple Studios in a beautiful room with wooden floors and big windows. This space provides my students and I with a creative and inspiring atmosphere. We can take Kung fu classes, yoga, dance and learn from the other talented professionals at the Studio. I feel very fortunate to dance at Temple Studios and to have found my passion for dance in Nia.

I am addicted to Nia with Janet. I always feel so good after - even on those days I don’t feel like going out. I don't know how it works, but Nia always lifts my spirits. The drop-in classes and the friendly atmosphere make everyone feel at home. Thank you Janet!
